“ A decent little shop with a wide selection of bulk candy and chocolate. The prices seemed fair, but like any bulk candy store you have a shop smart. The one thing that stood out to me here was their business model. You aren't allowed to fill your own bags. As you browse you are approached and asked if you need a bag. If the answer is yes the helpers fill the bags for you. You tell them what you want and they get it out of the bulk bins. A little different than other bulk candy stores I've been in before where it's more of less self service. From a health and welfare standpoint I can respect this... From a control standpoint I really wasn't a fan. I want to have the bag in my hand. I know roughly how much a pound weighs in my own hand. It's hard to judge the weight when it's in someone else's. ”
“ Craving something sweet? Come on in. All sorts of chocolates and candy by the pound. My SO and I got lbs worth and will have delicious chocolates for days. ”
“ Delicious turtles! The caramel was so creamy and the chocolate was smooth. May need to stop by again before leaving the area. Sad that almost have the store carried items that were over priced and not even made there. I.e. gummi bears, jaw breakers, licorice, etc. I do not expect to see these items at a local chocolate store. The items sold there should be made by the company with possibly a few exceptions. Not half the store. I did not purchase such items from therm. ”
“ It's always a treat to stop at the Kandy Kitchen when we are in Galena. My husband tells stories of when he was a little kid, and his grandma would send him and his cousin down to Kandy Kitchen, and they would both come back with huge bags of candy. Now we stop and pick out some sea salt caramels and peanut butter cups because their chocolate, caramel, and peanut butter is phenomenal. Much to my surprise, upon my my recent visit, I found a sea salt caramel peanut butter cup. Oh my heck! They are onto something with this one. I may have a new favorite, and it's a combination of my two favorites! It's a wonderful little store, and is always full of people. The caramel apples are always delicious in the fall, too! ”
“ The hubs and I stopped by the Galena Kandy Kitchen while we were staying at a B&B nearby. This small candy store has been around since the '70s, and they are know for their 'Pecan Georgies' (homemade caramel with fresh pecan halves and hand-dipped in milk or dark chocolate) - these are pretty tasty (I prefer the milk chocolate version), and if you like caramel, chocolate, and pecan nuts, then these turtles will definitely hit the spot! They also have chocolate bars, dipped chocolates, creams, English toffee, peanut butter cups, pogo sticks, pecan logs, cararmel, fudge, popcorn, chocolate raisins, malt balls, popcorn, and even candies (like gummy bears and sour bits). Definitely check this local candy store out, and you can also support them by purchasing through their online store. +'Pecan Georgies' ”
“ I could start and stop this review with three words.... "Chocolate Covered Bacon". Right now if your gag reflex set in, I'm not going to lie and say mine didn't the first time I heard of it. Just give it a try. If you are a fan of delicious bacon and you also loves you some chocolate, you know you do! This is a combination that will bring you back for more heart attack goodness. You do yourself a disservice if you don't at least buy one piece to try. Seriously, this is an old time candy shop with jars filled of candy you can choose from. They have some delicious candy and fudge that you just can't go wrong with. The chocolate counter has your standard confectionary selections but also many other things dipped in chocolate, but who cares because you are going to get the Chocolate Covered Bacon anyways, the other stuff is just there as decoration. If you have a sweet tooth and need something to fill it. I'm pretty sure you can find something here. Plus they have Chocolate Covered Bacon. ”
